We're passionate about bringing delicious, high-quality chickpea pasta to tables across North America! While we'd love to produce our Canadian products in Canada, the specialized facility needed to create our unique pasta simply doesn't exist here right now. We've partnered with a fantastic Canadian manufacturer who operates a state-of-the-art facility in the USA. This allows us to meet the growing demand from customers in both countries while maintaining the highest quality standards. Producing in this specific facility ensures we can deliver the classic pasta taste and texture our customers love, using only wholesome, real ingredients. Importantly, this partnership also helps us keep our prices affordable for Canadian consumers. We're committed to exploring all options for future Canadian production of our Canadian-specific products and are constantly evaluating opportunities to bring manufacturing home when feasible.
We understand that many Canadians are making a conscious effort to support homegrown businesses, and we couldn’t agree more. At Chickapea, we are proudly Canadian-owned and deeply committed to supporting our local economy and communities.
We source ingredients from both Canada and the USA to minimize transportation distances and produce our pasta as sustainably as possible. Our current manufacturing setup allows us to serve both markets and offer the highest quality ingredients, while keeping prices affordable for Canadians.

Yes, Chickapea is certified gluten-free. Chickpeas and yellow peas are naturally gluten free, but we also test every batch of product and produce in a dedicated gluten-free facility.
Chickapea’s core line of pasta is certified USDA organic. Chickapea onepot meals are not certified organic. The rising cost of food is affecting many of us. Chickapea decided to deliver a one pot meal that could be offered at a lower cost, but still delivered more protein, clean ingredients, quick and easy to prep and (of course) good taste. In order to deliver on all of these values, we sourced pasta and seasonings that were of top quality standards but not organic.
The product is made in a Certified Gluten Free facility and none of the major allergens are present in the facility. Strict allergen control practices are undertaken to ensure no inadvertent contamination.
Chickapea's core pasta line isNon-GMO Project Verified.Chickapea one pot meals are not Non-GMO Project Verified. We are currently seeking the Non-GMO verified designation for one pot meals and are working with Non-GMO and our suppliers going through the verification process.

Cooking, Taste, Texture & Digestion
Like most pastas, it’s best to cook Chickapea in a big pot, full of boiling, salted water. We recommend 10 cups of water per box. The more space the pasta has to move around, the better. Once water is boiling, reduce to a boil over medium heat. Look at the cooking instructions on the box of pasta to see the suggested cooking times as there is slight variation in boiling time depending on the noodle shape. The cooking time also depends on how you enjoy your pasta, we recommend checking the texture around the 5 or 6 minute boiling mark and go from there.
The simple answer is no. Chickapea will not fall to pieces or turn to mush if slightly overcooked. It holds its shape and texture very well, especially if cooked in lots of water (10 cups per box) so it has space to move while cooking. As with any pasta, it will however get softer with time so we encourage you to taste for texture around the 5 to 6 minute boiling mark and go from there.
When cooked, beans naturally release starch, which produces a stable foam. You can simply skim off the foam. Cooking the pasta in a large pot with lots of water will also help reduce the foam.
Chickapea pasta is packed with protein and fibre that you don’t need to eat nearly as much as you would regular pasta, and it will sustain you much longer too. If you’re not used to eating very high fibre foods, we suggest starting with a small amount of pasta.
According to our package and labeling guidelines, a serving size is between 71g–85g.
